BP006 / Varios - Materia Obscura

Tras grandes esfuerzos compartidos, pláticas de conocimiento y reconocimiento con artistas, apoyo de una gran cantidad de grandes personas, buenas vibras y decisiones tomadas, es que por fin hoy decidimos lanzar el primer compilado que mostramos, entusiasmados, un servidor, Allan Vizzuett, y su contraparte, Fernando Victoria, bajo el nombre de Bad Pop. Éste es nuestro primer acercamiento con el medio musical de difusión física; no podíamos quedarnos únicamente en código e imagen: ya estábamos sedientos de tinta y papel… y bueno, en este caso, cassettes también.

Estamos orgullosos de presentar Materia Obscura, una compilación de 16 artistas internacionales independientes de nuestro agrado, que tiene como fin fundamentar el deseo y agrado por la música, rompiendo cualquier paradigma en cuanto a género o estilo, yendo desde canciones Ambient/Chillwave de matices contrastantes, tanto bailables como relajantes, pasando por un BedroomPop ligero y delicado, y terminando con un Rock Pop que incita a perder la cabeza. Dando como fruto una colaboración ilimitada para la creación y recreación de un acervo artístico/musical en este medio tan cambiante, Materia Obscura es la primera de muchas huellas físicas que este sello discográfico dejará plasmadas.

After great efforts, shared knowledge and recognition talks with artists, being supported by a lot of great people, recieving good vibes and having decisions made, today we finally decide to let people know about the first compilation that your server, Allan Vizzuett, and its counterpart, Fernando Victoria, release under the name Bad Pop. This is our first encounter with the physical diffusion musical environment: we could not stay only in code and image: we were thirsty for ink and paper … and well, in this case, cassettes as well, so we’re doing this to start producing cassettes on our own so we can keep supporting music also in a physical way.

We are proud to present Materia Obscura, a collection of 16 independent international artists we dig, which aims to inform the desire and appreciation about music, breaking any paradigm in terms of genre or style, ranging from Ambient /Chillwave of contrasting hues both danceable and relaxing, going through a light and delicate  BedroomPop, and ending with a PopPsychRock incites to lose your head. Giving as result a partnership to create and unlimited recreation of a body art /music in this ever-changing médium, Materia Obscura is the first of many physical traces that this label will leve embodied.

BP005 / Case Point - Case Point EP

Con una nueva modalidad en este sello, que será la oportunidad de donación a las bandas por su trabajo, estamos lanzando -muy gustosos- el EP debut de una dupla conformada por Ryan Boos (Nomadic Firs) y Adam Stolz, ambos originarios de Estados Unidos. Su proyecto lleva el nombre de Case Point, cual asecha en cada tema con sensualidad en base a relajados modos: ademanes que se sustentan de downtempo que, a su vez, se ve suministrado por vocales fluidas, en claro estilo hopero, mientras que de samples predominan los relacionados a ritmos ligeros de blues y funk. Cuando no encontramos lírica, el ambient se forja más de omnipotente jazz; cualidad que hace de estas cuatro pistas una inagotable fuente de placer.

With a new modality that consists in giving the oportunity of donate money to download the music of the bands we present, we’re releasing an amazing debut EP from this two man project that consists in Ryan Boos (Nomadic Firs) and his friend Adam Stolz, both residents in the United States, under the name of Case Point. Every song gently touches the sensuality found in some chill moods: downtempo arrangements with some fluid vocals that sound a little bit hip-hop, and some Blues/Funk samples that stand above and give a background support to the last mentioned. In the couple of instrumental songs, the ambient gets full of omnipotent jazz; a thing that makes this four pieces an unextinguishable fountain of pleasure.

BP004 / Beach on Tv - Woods & Water

Como cuarto release de este netlabel, presentamos Woods & Water, la sexta producción del proyecto francés Beach on TV, quien nos otorga la tarea de descubrir una ligera naturaleza astral dentro del conjunto de once canciones, cuyo propósito errante es tan solo conducirnos a un breve espacio en donde la tranquilidad, el pensamiento y la mente son los únicos exponentes que tienen validez; y a su vez, la imaginación, proyectada como una ambigua creación del espíritu y la conciencia, se da a la facilidad de ser experimentada por todo aquél que se lo proponga. Sin más, de nuevo y como siempre, agradecemos el apoyo e interés mostrado hacia nosotros. Escuchen a continuación.

As our fourth release, we present Woods & Water, the sixth production of the french one-man project Beach on TV, who sets us to the task of discovering some light astral nature inside every single song in this compilation, which wandering porpuse is only to lead us to a brief space where thinking, calm and mind are the only exponents that are valid; and in the same time, the imagination, projected as an ambigue creation of the spirit and the conscience, is given to the facility of being experienced by everyone who porpuse it. BP003 / deadCAT - Delecate Daughters

De actitud desenfrenada y clara orientación por hacerse de flow en sus canciones, deadCAT remueve cadáveres de gatos destripados hasta acomodarlos de una manera en que se alcance a percibir algo agradable a la vista (como muestra esta portada). Una apuesta que los lleva a querer catapultar el noise pop experimental -de ese que a veces resulta incómodo escuchar- a una plataforma sin represalias aunado a la cultura pop. Delecate Daughters entra justamente allí, pues se muestra con estética ligera -producto del chillwave visto en estos dos tracks- que a su vez sirve como conector con las arrebatadas rimas que da el hip hop en su faceta menos comercial (aspecto que usaron más en anteriores singles). Sin discusión, “Delecate Daughters” y “Bitchs” siendo de momento su trabajo menos agresivo, pero que bien funciona para diversificar y atraer más oídos hacia las no tan malévolas redes que tejen Britt Teusink y Gage Gilmore.

From an unbridled attitude and clear guidance in making flows in their songs, deadCAT moves corpses of gutted cats and places them in a way that you can perceive something pleasing (as shown in this cover). They bet to catapult the experimental noise-pop music that sometimes is uncomfortable to hear, to a platform without retaliation coupled with pop culture. Delecate Daughters is placed there, as shown with an aesthetic light -product from chillwave seen in these two tracks- which in turn serves as a connector with rhymes seized that hip hop gives in the less commercial way (something that they used more in previous singles). This way, without discussion, “Delacate Daughters” and “Bitchs” are being at the moment their work with less aggression, but it works well to diversify and attract more ears to the -not so evil- grid that Britt Teusink and Gage Gilmore weave.

BP002 / Tony Gallardo II - Líder Juvenil EP /

En lo que llega uno de los discos más esperados de este año (lo nuevo de María y José), estamos orgullosos de presentar el primer EP de Antonio como Tony Gallardo II. Un extended de título Líder Juvenil que contiene cuatro pistas re-editadas (antes presentadas como demos en su soundcloud) algo lejanas a lo escuchado previamente por este chico residente de Tijuana, Baja California, pero que sorprende atendiendo las necesidades callejeras de cualquier amante del tribal guarachero con conocimiento básico en música techno/house; de igual manera imprimiendo, digamos, un ½ de ruidosón a este proyecto, ensuciando el sonido bailable con rígidas y satíricas vocales, dando a lugar un encuentro nada peculiar para una escena mexicana nada experimental. Es decir: lo más probable es que no te guste porque no estás en onda y nunca escuchaste Super Vato.

While one of the most anticipated albums of the year comes (the new of María y José), we are proud to present the first EP of Antonio as Tony Gallardo II. An extended entitled Líder Juvenil which contains four re-edited tracks (presented before as demos through his soundcloud) somewhat distanced of what we have previously heard of this guy resident of Tijuana, Baja California, but that surprises serving the needs of any lover of tribal guarachero with basic knowledge in techno/house music; at the same time printing, let’s say, a ½ of ruidosón to this project, dirtying the danceable sound with rigid and satirical vocals, giving place to an encounter not so quirky for a mexican scene not so experimental. Let’s say, it’s very likely that you won’t love it because you’re not cool and never heard Super Vato.

BP001 / The Fantasies - Daisy I’m Crazy

Para que entiendan por dónde va la cosa con Bad Pop, el primer release que ponemos a su disposición se trata de un nuevo sencillo de nombre Daisy I’m Crazy de la banda americana The Fantasies. Éste comprende la canción de mismo título y su b-side “Hey Baby…”: ambas con su particular sonido setentero de garage y noise con melosas y dosificadas letras fáciles de seguir. Un trato que, apegado al plan de mientras más volumen mejor, hace de estos nuevos tracks lo más bailable que les hemos conocido a estos chicos (sin olvidar su pasado hit, “Midnight Boogie”).

Bad Pop’s first offering is a two song single titled Daisy I’m Crazy by The Fantasies from America.  This digital 7” includes the title track and it’s b-side “Hey Baby…”, which continue their exploration of the garage/surf/noise sound, with easily digestible, yet spacey lyrics.  These two tracks, designed for loud playback, are the most danceable songs they’ve released since their sensational self released first single “Midnight Boogie”.

Bad Pop es un netlabel que está pensado para empezar a operar a partir del 2012. De hecho la primer fecha que tenemos pensada a usar como determinada en un lanzamiento puede ser el 11 de enero, pero eso ya se verá en unos cuantos días con más calma. Por lo pronto queremos invitar a cualquier banda/artista a que nos mande sus ideas, canciones o discos en caso de querer lanzar algún próximo material con nosotros.

Cabe aclarar que todo el material expuesto aquí será en formato digital y descargable de manera gratuita. Podrás encontrar lyrics tanto en español como en inglés: no nos fijamos mucho en eso. Y respecto a los géneros, puede que en algunos momentos los saquemos de onda debido a lo disparejo del asunto, pero en su mayoría creo que serán trabajos con esencia pop en todas sus formas.
